Art conveys the most authentic message about the times we live in. It is precisely the complex information that can be gleaned from works of art, as well as the methodology used to make content readable and understandable, that fascinate and motivate me in the long term.

I participated in the transdisciplinary and multi-university program of the Bavarian Elite Network “AISTHESIS. Historical Discourses on Image and Literature” (AISTHESIS. Historische Bild- und Literaturdiskurse). The program, led by Prof. Michael F. Zimmermann, ultimately reinforced my focus on the exciting questions of art perception and their answers through philosophical methods. In my dissertation, I focused on the phenomenon of anthropomorphism in modern art. The theory I developed explains the function of projection and empathy in the creative process of subjectivized representations of nature in the extension of modern art since the 19th century. Since 2017, I have been working at the Austrian Gallery Belvedere in Vienna, which is the ideal place for close contact with the masterpieces of European art history.

My art-historical focus is on the various forms of modern visual communication from the 19th century to current artistic trends. Methodologically and art-historically, I conduct research in the fields of visual semiotics, anthropology of images, psychological aesthetics, Byzantine image theology, and the problematic of manipulated images and manipulation through images in the virtual sphere.

In my curatorial practice, I always choose an interdisciplinary and transhistorical approach in order to place the respective theme in a broad context and thus draw attention to the diachronic development and synchronic situation of the legibility of the works. In addition, since studying art history, I have paid attention to the background of the production of each exhibition project and the organization of symposia, workshops and conferences, thereby gaining skill in marketing strategies and cultural management.

Parallel to my curatorial work and communicating significant socio-cultural topics to the general public through art, it is important to me to continue researching in the field of art theory and to publish the results through lectures and texts. I am a member of AICA (Association Internationale des Critiques d'Art) and the editorial board of the journal ARS of the Slovak Academy of Sciences.

I cannot and will not accept visual art as an isolated phenomenon of a definite time and separate place. That is why I am always looking for correlations, connections, and contacts to other artistic media, genres, and forms. Thus, in addition to visual art, another passion has developed: music, especially jazz. Since 2015, I have been writing regular music reviews, critiques, and concert and festival reports for international music labels.

I consider it a great privilege to be able to work in the cultural sector, to reflect on art, and to research and write about it. I am delighted when my work succeeds in motivating audiences to engage with the results of artistic creativity.
